Tsukiji’s Outer Fish Market Remains Open for Business
SNA (Tokyo) — On October 11, the new fish market in Toyosu opened for business. This marked the end of a several year project to relocate Tokyo’s famous fish market from Tsukiji. The Tsukiji location was made up of both an inner and outer market. The inner market was where most of the business happened, and access to the public was limited. The outer market is made up of shops and restaurants, and the streets are crowded with tourists. While the inner market operations have been moved to Toyosu, the outer market remains fully functional and open for business. Tourists are still welcome to visit Tsukiji’s historic shopping area.
