New Train Station on the Yamanote Line
SNA (Tokyo) — JR East is constructing a new train station on the Yamanote Line between Shinagawa and Tamachi. The station will connect to the Keihin-Tohoku Line, Yamanote Line, and the Shinkansen. It will be the first new station on the Yamanote Line since 1971. It was designed by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, who also designed the stadium for the 2020 Olympics. The surrounding area will be an international business center and cultural facility. It is scheduled to open in April 2020, a few months before the Olympics begin.
